Olowu of Kuta To Partner Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation To Empower Widows, Indigent Women

As part of effort to put smile on the faces of widows, small scale business owners and other less privileged persons in the society.

A non – governmental organization, Asiwaju Dapo Wahab has sought the collaboration of a prominent Osun State traditional ruler, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama, the Olowu of Owu – Kuta to organize an empowerment programme, tagged: “Empowered Women Empower Women”.

The President of the organization, Asiwaju Dapo Wahab made this request on Tuesday, during a courtesy call on the referred monarch at his Osun State palace.

He revealed that the NGO works with widows, the indigent women and schools where there are poor families who may not have the capacity to cater for the educational needs of their children.

He said this was by addressing critical issues being faced by the widows by catering for the needs and encouraging them to live and fulfill their destiny in life after the demise of their husbands.

He added that skills acquisition and empowerment programme were often organised for the widows where they learn different skills and minimal capital given to them to start off petty businesses not too capital- intensive.

He said, “first and foremost, let me appreciate his Majesty, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama, the Olowu of Owu Kuta for always identifying with Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation”.

“It is our delight that Kabiyesi has over the years been following our programmes to improve standard of living of less privileged people in the society”.

“As a gender sensitive and kindhearted king, it’ll be a great pleasure to us as a foundation, and to everyone out there to experience more hands of fellowship to the less privileged ones through the royal stool of Owu Kuta as we plan to empower widows for a more meaningful life following the demise of their husbands”, he added.

In his address, the Olowu of Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama, informed the team of his readiness to partner with the NGO to empower widows and indigent women on the need to cater for their basic needs despite their challenges.

Oba Makama, however assured the team that the Owu Kuta royal stool would provide the needed support for the foundation to operate accordingly for optimal performance.

Among the traditional rulers in the royal visit was the Onitafin of Orile Tafin, Oba Morufu Alani Adebayo, who is also one one the promoters of Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation, Oba Ismaila Gbadamosi, Fabunmi II, Olaa of Ajagunlase, Oba Kazeem Adio, Ori Oye Oyediran II, Onigege of Gege, Oba Asimiyu Sodiq Agboluwaji, Ologburo of Ogburo, among others.
