The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo has played host to the State Chapter of Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide with a renewed assurance that the State Assembly under his leadership remained committed towards enacting legislations at promoting cultural reorientation, integration as well as promotion of infrastructural and agricultural development to further improve local economy of the State.
Oluomo, who gave the assurance shortly after the presentation of the group by the Deputy National President, Adeleke Olukoya, explained that the ninth Assembly had been engaging developmental partners and groups at achieving more stable foundations for sustainable growth and development of the State through stakeholders forum in the process of passing enabling laws in all facets of the State’s economy.
Citing complementing policies by the State Government especially in the area of agriculture, the Speaker noted that efforts were in top gear to pass the Anti-open grazing bill having held its stakeholders’ forum in the previous week, just as the State was fashioning out plans to introduce local attire across schools, having made the wearing of Adire outfit part of the policy of government in the State.
Earlier in his remarks, Adeleke opined that it became important to jointly proffer common ground towards achieving short, medium and long term solutions through large scale local and foreign direct investments in the agricultural sector, thereby achieving agricultural development, youth empowerment and effective security.
Also speaking, the President, Yoruba Council of Women world-wide, Chief Folashade Olabanji-Oba stated that the council was established on the credo and visions of Awoism with utmost interest towards the promotion and orientation of the Yoruba tradition, norms and cultural heritage amongst Yoruba youth, adding that its establishment was targeted at achieving appropriate re-orientation, re-vitalization and rebirth of the Yoruba concept of brotherhood.
