The Delta State Police Command has announced the arrest of six suspected kidnappers who have been terrorizing the Ughelli community.
The State Police Commissioner, Abaniwonda Olufemi, made the announcement during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Asaba.
According to the Commissioner, three kidnapped victims were rescued during the operation, and a cache of weapons was recovered, including one pump-action gun, three Barretta pistols, and one locally made cut-to-size gun.
In a related incident, one suspected kidnapper was killed in a shootout with police operatives and members of the local vigilante group in the Orogun forest, Ughelli North.
The police commissioner praised the efforts of the operatives and the vigilante group, stating that the arrests and recoveries are a significant milestone in the fight against kidnapping and criminality in the state.
