Tinubu Proclaims April 7 as National Police Day

President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, has announced the designation of April 7 as National Police Day during the inaugural Nigeria Police Awards and Commendations ceremony held at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja on Monday, April 15th.

Highlighting the imperative of a comprehensive transformation in the mindset and practices of police officers, Tinubu underscored his administration’s commitment to modernizing and professionalizing the force through substantial reforms initiated since assuming office in 2023.

He emphasized the significance of ongoing training and capacity-building efforts to empower police personnel with the necessary skills for contemporary law enforcement tasks. Additionally, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had endorsed the designation of the first week of April as Police Week, culminating in the observance of National Police Day on April 7th.
