The Federal Government of Nigeria has commenced evacuating Nigerian students in Sudan via luxurious buses headed to Egypt.
Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, shared photos of students in Sudan queuing up to board buses to Egypt en route to Nigeria.
The Commission said the Nigerian evacuation team in Sudan received some buses on Tuesday, to transport Nigerian students to nearby borders in Egypt.
Dabiri-Erewa said the students would depart Wednesday and subsequently, be airlifted from Egypt to Nigeria.
It was gathered that a set of five 200-seater buses were said to have driven into the meeting point of the International University Of Africa, Khartoum, at exactly 5:30 pm Nigerian time, with two Hilux trucks of security personnel and a small bus of the embassy on Tuesday.
The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Habib Ahmed, had met with the Nigerian Ambassador to Egypt, Amb. Nura Rimi, on the reception preparation for Nigerians who are being moved from Sudan to Egypt.
