Crescent University Honours Dr. Abiodun Lasile with Bola Ajibola Community Service Award

In a remarkable celebration of community service and literary excellence, Dr. Abiodun Lasile, alongside other distinguished Nigerians, was bestowed with the prestigious Bola Ajibola Community Service Award.

The award ceremony, held on Friday, March 22, 2024, marked the 18th Founder’s Day Celebration of Crescent University in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Dr. Lasile, a renowned literary icon and Vice Chairman of the Association of Nigeria Authors, was recognized for his fervent dedication to promoting a culture of reading and fostering the development of youth across various initiatives.

His relentless efforts in championing literacy and educational empowerment earned him this esteemed accolade.

Graciously accepting the award, Dr. Lasile, who is also the Orunto of Owu Kingdom, received the honor from the esteemed Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba (Prof) Saka Matemilola.

Oba Matemilola praised Dr. Lasile’s unwavering commitment, describing him as a shining example of dedication and steadfastness in advancing reading culture and literacy within society.

In his heartfelt remarks, Oba Matemilola emphasized the profound impact of Dr. Lasile’s work, acknowledging his pivotal role in societal transformation.

He lauded Dr. Lasile’s passion and consistency, attributing his well-deserved recognition to his tireless efforts in uplifting communities through education and literacy initiatives.

Speaking on behalf of Crescent University, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Oba Matemilola while presenting the Bola Ajibola Community Service Award to Dr. Lasile, acknowledged his invaluable contributions to promoting reading culture and educational literacy in society.

Oba Matemilola said, “if I am not here today as an invited traditional ruler, I would still be here because of Chief Lasile who is one of the super stars and Chief of Owu Kingdom”.

‘Chief Lasile actually earned the very distinguished Chieftancy because of his activities, passion and consistency for transforming the society”.

“So, on behalf of Crescent University, Abeokuta, Ogun State. I’ll like to present the Bola Ajibola Community Service Award to you in recognition of your commitment for promoting reading culture and educational literacy in the society “, Oba Matemilola added.

Meanwhile, this honor serves as a testament to Dr. Lasile’s enduring commitment to serving and enriching communities through the power of literature and education.
