In line with the resolution of the Ogun State House of Assembly, the Ogun State Fire service is to commence sealing of gas shops sited within residential areas in the state

The move is aimed at curbing incessant gas explosions and fire incidents as a result of the indiscriminate location of gas shops across the state.

The Director, Ogun state Fire service, Eng. Fatai Adefala let this out in an interview in Abeokuta

As he said, the fire agency is taking proactive measures to enforce the extant laws which restrict sitting of gas stations near residential areas

Engineer Adefala noted that the agency will also prosecute those found guilty and as well ensure strict adherence to the regulations guiding the location of gas stations.

The Director also confirmed that it will be sensitizing the public through house to house, street to street education on the need to follow regulations guiding the locations of gas stations and the dangers as well as punitive measures for those who flout the laws

Fire prevention teams are to be on the lookout for offenders from today Monday 5th August, 2019.
