Youth Group Tasks Corps Members To Embrace Entrepreneurship

A representative of the Youth Enterprise With Innovation in Nigeria (YOU WIN) program, Mr Kalu Patrick has urged Corps Members to leverage on the opportunities presented by the YouWin Connect Scheme during their service year.

Speaking at a YouWin lecture to the 2022 Bacth C Stream one Corps Members at the Multipurpose Hall of the Sagamu Orientation Camp, Kalu said “recent statistics reveal that only 35% of the over 600,000 Nigerian graduates who turn out annually get jobs”

“Out of these 35% of employed youths, the majority are overworked and underpaid. There is also a global economic recession that is threatening job security, which is why we have come to sensitize you to pay attention to developing your own businesses.” He noted.

He further stated that YouWin Connect is an entrepreneurship program aimed at generating jobs by encouraging and supporting aspiring entrepreneurial youths to develop and execute business ideas.

“I will like to admonish you to leverage on the funding of agencies in developing your business, and if you don’t have one, please start one.”

At the 3nd of the lecture, books with the titled, “Successful Nigerian Entrepreneurs: How They Started.” was distributed to Corps Members.

Perusing the book, it tells the stories of successful Nigerian entrepreneurs in the hope of inspiring members of the corporation to take initiative and solve societal problems.
