The Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations , Ogun State Chapter, a Senior Editor with the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation, Mr. Waheed Ogunjobi has emerged the National Publicity Secretary of the Egba Comprehensive High School Old Students’ Association (ECHSOSA).
Ogunjobi, the Chairman of the 1996 Dream Set of the school defeated, Olayiwola Wasiu Ojo in the poll after his main challenger, Dr Lukmon Adebayo of the 1995 set had earlier stepped down in the spirit of sportsmanship
The immediate past President of the Old Students’ Association, Mr Femi Popoola and the Secretay,Dr. Nurudeen Sanyaolu as well as Mr. Lekan Ewuoso, the welfare officer were re-elected unopposed during the 2024 Annual General Meeting of the Association, the event which was televised live to accommodate participation and voting by members of the Association in the diaspora.
Also, Mr. Akeem Ekundayo was elected as the Vice Chairman, Idowu Opaleye became the National Treasurer, while Funmi Sokunbi was elected the Social Secretary with John Adekunle becoming the Assistant General Secretary
The Chairman of the school’s Board of Trustee, Chief Taiwo Sobande performed the swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected executives.
The newly elected President, Mr Olufemi Popoola in his acceptance speech assured that the new executives in collaboration with the BOT,CEO and set/groups executives, home and abroad, will pursue renewed approach and directions in moving the association forward.
According to him ,precisely attention shall be on more members’ participation,more synergy with sets/individuals to improve on the existing facilities,their maintenance and construction of new ones.
Popoola said :” We shall be more inclusive and participatory,especially in identifying with members in the diaspora. Deliberate attention shall be given to students capacity building, improvement of their academic performance and involvement in extra curricular activities to stem incidents of unruly behaviour and social vices”.
The ECHOSA National President stated further that the new dispensation shall be transparent, accountable, receptive to suggestions and advice at all time.
