Ebenezer Olusesi, a 31-year-old baker, and Ibrahim Adeniyi, a 41-year-old security guard, both employees of FoodCo’s Ring Road branch in Ibadan, were arraigned before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrate’s Court on Monday. They faced charges of stealing two loaves of bread valued at N2,600 from their employer.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the theft charges. According to the prosecution counsel, Cpl. David Adepoju, the defendants conspired to commit the theft.

He alleged that on April 28, they stole two loaves of bread belonging to the company, an offense that contravenes Sections 390(a) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

Chief Magistrate Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

One surety must be a relative, while the second surety must present tax evidence for two years.

The matter was adjourned until August 15 for a hearing.
