President Bola Tinubu, accompanied by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, arrived in Paris on Wednesday evening for a three-day State Visit aimed at strengthening the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and France.
In a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu landed at Orly Airport at approximately 5:10 p.m., where he was accorded full military honours by the French Republican Guard in a ceremonial welcome.
According to the statement, “The official engagements will commence on Thursday at the historic Les Invalides, where French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron will warmly receive President Tinubu. This will be followed by a distinguished reception at the Palais de l’Élysée, celebrating the Nigerian leader.”
The visit seeks to reinforce collaboration in critical areas, including agriculture, security, education, health, youth engagement, innovation, and energy transition. The statement highlighted that the visit “promises substantial benefits for Nigeria.”
President Tinubu and President Macron are expected to discuss initiatives to promote youth exchange programs and skills development in automation, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Strategic political and diplomatic talks will also cover shared priorities in finance, solid minerals, trade and investment, and communication.
Additionally, the visit includes a session hosted by the France-Nigeria Business Council, where both leaders will coordinate private sector participation in economic development.
First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and Brigitte Macron will engage in discussions focusing on empowering women, children, and vulnerable groups through the Nigerian First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative.
The statement also revealed that, “President Tinubu and his wife will attend a state dinner hosted by the French President before their departure.”
