Timothy Shorunke Becomes ABEOCCIMA President, Promises Inclusive Leadership

Abeokuta, Ogun State – In a seamless transition, Mr. Timothy Erigbemi Shorunke, a seasoned tax expert and chartered accountant, has been inaugurated as the new President of the Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ABEOCCIMA).

The Investiture of Shorunke As President took place at Commerce House, Ibara, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital during the Chamber’s 48th Annual General Meeting and Inauguration of New Executives.

Shorunke, who served as 1st Deputy President in the immediate past cabinet, took over the reins of leadership from Otunba A. Babs Adesanya, the immediate past President.

In his acceptance speech, Shorunke pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessors, foster collaborations with institutions to promote members’ businesses, and explore opportunities locally and internationally.

He said, “I am overwhelmed with gratitude to be selected as the new President of ABEOCCIMA. I thank the Board of Trustees, the outgoing EXCO, members, and secretariat staff for this honor”.

“Since 1976, ABEOCCIMA has been renowned for corporate governance and best practices. We will continue this legacy, addressing challenges and turning them into strengths”.

“We will build on past achievements, collaborating with institutions to grow members’ businesses and open opportunities locally and internationally”.

“Our leadership is committed to serving members’ interests, anchored on inclusivity, innovation, and sustainability”.

“I encourage active participation and engagement from members. Your cooperation and input are valued”, he added.

The new executive council comprises experienced professionals, including Mr. Ibrahim Bada (1st Deputy President), Engr. Lekan Jiboku (2nd Deputy President), Mrs Jaiyeola Akinbo (Vice President), Engr. Oluyomi Olutoye (Vice President), Alhaji Moruf Popoola (Vice President), Prince Olumide Agbasi (Vice President), Alhaji Taiwo Raji (Vice President), and Mr. Solomon Enilolobo (Vice President).

Others include; Asiwaju Dapo Wahab as the new Treasurer, with Pharm. Aderemi Ogunyemi as Deputy Treasurer and Alhaji Nureni Odunmbaku as Financial Secretary.

The council members include Mr. David Ajayi, Prof. Adetoun Amubode, Dr. Oladele Abiodun, and representatives of Obasanjo Holdings and Tower Rolling & Galvanizing Limited.

Engr. Mike Akingbade, President of OGUNCCIMA, and Lion Niyi Osinyemi were also in attendance, among other Chamber leadership.

The inauguration ceremony also featured lecture presentation by Dr. Olubunmi Kole-Dawodu, Deputy Director and Head of SMEDAN, Lagos Office, on “Strategies for Accessing Funds for Business Development: Leveraging the Intervention Role of SMEDAN”.

Past Presidents, including Engr. S.A.O Adeyinka, Elder Moses Enilolobo, and Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye, attended the ceremony, which marked a new chapter in the history of ABEOCCIMA.

Shorunke’s leadership promises to prioritize inclusivity, innovation, and sustainability, with a commitment to serving members’ interests and driving economic growth in Abeokuta and Ogun State in general.
