As President Bola Tinubu prepares to establish a new Ministry of Livestock Development and potentially reshuffle his cabinet, the Livestock Reforms Committee has submitted a comprehensive 152-page report outlining targeted goals for the sector over the next decade.
The Co-Chair of the committee, Professor Attahiru Jega, handed the report to President Tinubu on Thursday at the State House in Abuja. Speaking to State House Correspondents, Jega highlighted the committee’s key recommendations, which include the creation of a Federal Ministry of Livestock Development.
“The report provides detailed guidelines for setting up the new ministry,” Professor Jega said, adding that the submission marks a crucial step towards addressing the significant challenges facing Nigeria’s livestock industry.
The proposed reforms aim to enhance the livestock sector’s growth and sustainability over the next ten years, offering a clear roadmap for improving productivity, management, and regulation.
