POLICE NAB 58-YEAR OLD MAN, ANOTHER OVER ALLEGED DEFILEMENT OF TEENAGE GIRLS IN DELTA

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 58-year-old man (names withheld) over the alleged defilement of a 10-year-old girl in Eku Community, Ethiope-East Local Government Area of the State.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya disclosed this in a statement signed and made available to our correspondent on Sunday.

The Police said the incident occurred on the on the 9th of June.

In the same vein, the Police said it arrested another 50-year-old man over the alleged defilement of a two-year-old girl in Aladja Community, Udu Local Government Area on the 27/6/2019.

The two suspects are currently cooling off their heels in the Police custody and they will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.

The Police also expressed worries over the wave of defilements in the state, saying,” it is disturbing that two cases of defilement of minors were recorded within the space of three weeks.”

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Adeyinka Adeleke, however, advised parents to keep a close watch on their under-aged female children to avoid them falling victim
