The Osun State Police Command has apprehended Olugbode Joshua and Akinleye Ayodeji on charges of armed robbery and involvement in cult activities.
The command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, made the arrests public during a parade of suspects at the police headquarters in Osogbo.
Joshua, 22, a member of the Black Axe confraternity, was arrested after his gang reportedly invaded a store in the Ita-Olokan area of Osogbo, armed with guns and other dangerous weapons.
They inflicted injuries on the store owner and customers, stealing two iPhones. The Anti-cultism unit arrested Joshua on August 8, 2024, following the incident.
Ayodeji, 25, also a member of the Black Axe confraternity and known as “Devil,” was arrested on the same day after a cult clash in the Gbemu area of Osogbo. His gang, notorious for terrorizing the Egbatedo area, fled upon seeing the police, but Ayodeji was apprehended.
Both suspects are expected to be charged in court following the completion of investigations.
The Osun State Police Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
