Sport Writers Association of Nigeria(SWAN) Ogun State Chapter has commiserated with Achievers Football Club and Ogun State Football Family over the sudden death of some members of the team in a road accident that occurred over the weekend along Abeokuta – Lagos road.

This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Abeokuta by Sanusi Lateef, Ogun State SWAN Secretary and obtained by Tropic Reporters correspondent.

The statement read in parts, “The unfortunate incident that took the lives of players of Achievers Football Club broke, the entire executives and members of Sport Writers Association of Nigeria(SWAN), have been thrown into serious grief and shock.”

“We hereby use this medium to commiserate with the football club, the families of the deceased and the entire football family in Ogun State.”

“We feel highly pained by the incident, while we pray that God should grant the families of the deceased, the football club and entire football family in the State, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”

“Achievers Football Club became stuck to the memories of our members, as a result of the hard work and dedication of the players and officials.”

“Achievers football club, is one of the most popular grassroot football clubs in Ogun State, as they seize every opportunity to take part in virtually every organized grassroot football competition”, Sanusi added.

The association  thereafter prayed for continued peace as such disheartening incident would not reoccur in the soccer family and Ogun State again.
