The Ogun State government has commended the Build A School in Africa (BASIA) group for its unwavering commitment to developing education in Nigeria and Africa.

The praise came during the handover ceremony of a brand-new block of four classrooms and school start-up kits to Salawu Abiola Comprehensive High School, Osiele, Abeokuta.

Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele applauded BASIA’s efforts, stating that the donation marked a significant milestone in supporting public schools in the state.

She emphasized that the organization’s initiatives have brought about transformative changes in the state’s education landscape.

The new classroom block, donated in collaboration with the school’s Old Students Class of ’85, will alleviate overcrowding and provide a more engaging and effective learning environment for students.

Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, and Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, also commended the donation, promising to partner with BASIA for more developmental projects in the state.

Representatives from COAFRICA USA and the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission also praised the efforts of the donor, emphasizing the importance of private-public partnerships in providing conducive learning environments for students.

Dr. Victor Ukorebi, the donor, revealed that BASIA has committed to constructing classrooms, building toilets, and providing portable water in schools across Africa, with a focus on reducing the number of out-of-school children.

The Principal and students of Salawu Abiola Comprehensive High School expressed gratitude for the modern classrooms and urged their peers to make good use of the facility.
