OGUN SPEAKER IDENTIFIES POTENTIALS FOR GROWTH OF MSMES

The Speaker of the Ogun state House of Assembly Rt Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, has enjoined those interested in Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to be patient, acquire necessary skills and be prudent in achieving success in their enterprise.

Oluomo gave the charge while declaring open a day capacity building for entrepreneurs in the state organised by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in partnership with Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency  (SMEDAN).

He encouraged them to be creative and invest in business enterprises that would outlive their generation, stressing that investments is a life long venture that must be nurtured till the operator break even.

The Speaker advised the new MSME operators to take advantage of government’s initiatives like the Anchor borrowers programme and ‘Owo oko owo Dapo’ to empower themselves in farming, animal husbandry and other enterprises that would make them job creators.

Earlier in their remarks, the consultant to the Governor on Budget and Planning Mr. Olaolu Olabintan, his Commerce and Industry as well as Media counterpart, Ms.  Sola Arobieke and Yinka Ogundimu stressed the need for the participants to register with the organised private sector so as to benefit from all government initiatives in growing the subsector in the State.

Speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Mrs.  Lydia Fajounbo, assured that the State Government would continue to create enabling environment for the MSMEs to grow through different programmes and initiatives, positing that the subsector remained pivotal to the growth of any nation’s economy.
