The Federal High Court Judge sitting at Court 5 in Abuja, Hon. Justice Ekwo on Tuesday, 3rd March, 2020 ordered that all parties in suit No. FHC/AB/CS/208/2020 should maintain status quo pending the hearing of all applications in the suit.

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party filed am originating summon challenging the power of the Bayo Dayo led Executive of Ogun PDP to organise the 2020 Party Congresses in Ogun State scheduled to start on Saturday, 7th March, 2020.

The party also filed a motion on notice for Court injunction to stop the Congress planned by Engr Bayo Dayo for Saturday 7th March, 2020.

The judge after due consideration of the applications and documents filed by both the National Working Committee of PDP and Engr. Bayo Dayo now ordered that all parties should maintain status quo till the hearing of all applications on the adjourned date of 2nd April, 2020.

Speaking with plaintiff’s lead Counsel, Chief Chris Uche, SAN, he said the court’s decision is encouraging as it gives hope for an objective hearing and delivery of true judgement in the matter. He said “the order of the Court to maintain status quo by implication means their purported congress scheduled for this Saturday can not hold”.

Counsels for the parties were all present in court, Chief Chris Uche, SAN, with Olumuyiwa Obanewa and Ehi Uwaifoh for the PDP while Chief R. A. Oluyede for Adebayo Dayo and Kingsley Magbuil for INEC
