Ogun Environmental Health Officers Read Riot Act To Environmental Pollution

The Ogun State Chapter of Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria, have reiterated its commitment towards ensuring clean environment in the state ahead of the yuletide season and beyond.

The newly elected President of the Association, Sanitarian Ayinde Samuel, gave this assurance today in Abeokuta, the state capital, stressed the need for residents to demonstrate utmost love for their environment.

Sanitarian Ayinde Samuel who defeated his contender, Sanitarian Abiodun Sunday, in his acceptance speech also warned all residents to desist from acts that could have negative impacts on the environment, noting that any erring organization or individual would be sanctioned.

He said, “we are appealing to the good people of Ogun State of the need to take care of their environment as the newly elected Environmental Health Officers in the state will not condone any act capable of compromising the state’s healthy environment”.

“We will do everything in our capacity to support the Ogun State government to ensure cleaner and healthy environment in the state “.

Meanwhile, Sanitarian Ayinde Samuel won the election with 155 votes, against his closest contender, Sanitarian Abiodun Sunday, who pulled 89 votes.

Also Sanitarian Afolabi Taiwo emerged as Treasurer with 165 votes as against Sanitarian Benjamin Onaolapo who got 81 votes.

Other elected environmental officers include; San. Adetoye Walter (Deputy President), San. Asonibare Adenike (Vice President Missionaries), San. Adegunwa Muhammad (Vice President Ministries), San. Mohammed Yusuf (Vice President Medical Parastatal), San. (Mrs) Bankole Titilayo (General Secretary), San. Akinwumi Taiwo ( Financial Secretary), San. Akinola Oluwarantimi (Public Relations Officer), San. Idowu Damilare (Provost Marshal), San. Ekundayo Olanrewaju (Auditor), San. (Mrs) Adeyemo Taiwo (President Women’s Wing).
