The Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday, assured youth in the country to count on his support to take over the leadership of the country from ageing leaders as this was contained in a statement issued to newsmen by his Media aide, Mr. Kehinde Akinyemi in Abeokuta. .

The former President who was presented with an award of the Father of Nation at his Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) Board room, Abeokuta, Ogun state capital by the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) said the quest to take over from his generation cannot be over emphasized.

He therefore charged them to take back their country and save it from the gradual slide to anarchy and economic chaos.

The delegation, led by the former Youth Council President, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere and the Newly Elected Youth Council President Comrade Niyi Oladele said that the former President deserved the award because of his outstanding performance during and after office a former Head of State and two-term President.

“We are yet to see any governments after his administration that has surpassed his administration. In terms of appointments, debt cancellation, economy buoyancy and even fighting corruption,” Ugochinyere disclosed.

The National President of the Council, Comrade  Niyi Oladele on his part, hinted that he was shocked “upon assumption of Office, that, the only official Coaster bus now grounded, and the land owned by the Council were given by the former President during his administration. No governments  after him has made any meaningful impacts since then to the Council, except to use us for their selfish gains and dumped us.

“We have come to appreciate this, so that we can continue to get your support when needed again. We are going to start soon the quest to allow the ageing leadership to take the back seat, we can do it too,” Oladele said, as he immediately got the support from the former President.
