Iloko Day Celebration Unites Osun Community for Development

Yesterday, the vibrant spirit of the Iloko Ijesa community in Oriade, Osun State, was on full display as thousands of residents and dignitaries gathered to commemorate their annual Iloko Day celebration.

Held at the newly upgraded Iloko Ijesa Township Hall on Iijebu Road, the event was organized by the Iloko Development Association (IDA) under the leadership of Mr. Kayode Adedire. Months of meticulous planning culminated in a lively gathering where residents, adorned in colorful Ankara fabrics, came together to discuss strategies for advancing the town’s development.

Attendees were treated to live performances by local highlife artist Ariyo Awodugba, adding to the festive ambiance as they danced and celebrated in unity.

Distinguished guests, including political office holders and traditional leaders such as the Owaloko of Iloko Ijesa, graced the occasion, emphasizing the importance of community cohesion and collaboration in driving progress.

In his address, Oba Dr. Akeem Olusayo Benjamin Ogungbangbe praised the efforts of Osun State Governor, Sen. Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke, in uplifting the region’s socio-economic status. He stressed the need for unity among generations to ensure a prosperous future for Iloko Ijesa.

Under the theme “Unity, a Catalyst for Peace and Development,” Kayode Adedire highlighted the crucial role of cohesion in fostering progress within the community. He unveiled plans for a N250 million Development Fund aimed at modernizing the Town Hall into a civic center, urging stakeholders to contribute generously.

Hon. Prince Bayo Ogungbangbe, Commissioner for Cooperative and Empowerment, commended IDA’s efforts in promoting Iloko Ijesa’s cultural heritage and called for sustained collaboration for future endeavors.

Princess Kemi Oshodi, representing the Ajagbusi Ekun ruling house, stressed the significance of unity in propelling the town forward, emphasizing collective responsibility and engagement.

As the celebrations came to a close, IDA Secretary Mr. Taiwo Omojola reflected on the event’s success, praising the peaceful atmosphere and collaborative spirit. He reiterated IDA’s commitment to advancing the town’s developmental goals.

The 2024 Iloko Day celebrations concluded with a renewed sense of unity, optimism, and determination, reaffirming the community’s commitment to sustainable progress and prosperity.
