Governor Abiodun Honored for Tech Innovation Excellence

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has been honored with the prestigious Independent Newspapers Governor of the Year (Tech Innovation) award for 2023.

The award, presented at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, recognizes Governor Abiodun’s pioneering efforts in harnessing technology and innovation to drive economic growth and development in Ogun State.

Under his leadership, Ogun State has made significant strides in leveraging technology to enhance governance, improve public services, and boost economic productivity.

Notable achievements include the successful implementation of a gas-powered public transport system, the establishment of the Ogun Tech Hub, and the launch of the “Light Up Ogun State” project aimed at providing electricity to all parts of the state.

Governor Abiodun’s innovative approach has yielded impressive results, with Ogun State emerging as one of the top-performing states in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

His administration’s commitment to using technology to fight crime has also led to the deployment of cutting-edge drones to support law enforcement efforts.

The award, received by Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser on Media, on behalf of Governor Abiodun, is a testament to the governor’s visionary leadership and his dedication to harnessing the power of technology to transform Ogun State and improve the lives of its citizens.

Aremo Osoba, while praising the organisers of the event, noted that the awards cut across political divide, zones, and religions.

Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas received the Governor of the Year (Education and Youth Employment), Governor Caleb Manssseh Mutfwang of Plateau State, Governor of the Year (Infrastructure Development), Pastor Umo Bassey Eno of Akwa Ibom State, Governor of the Year (Fiscal Discipline), Governor Inuwa Muhammadu Yahaya of Gombe State, Governor of the Year (Health) and Governor Biodun Oyebanji, Governor of the Year (Community Development).

Chief Olabode George and Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu were also confered with Lifetime Achievement Awards at the event, amongst others.
