The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) on Wednesday, alleged that it was in possession of a police signal detailing how members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect planned to unleash deadly attacks on some local government areas in Zamfara State.

Some of the locations being targeted for attacks, according to the police signal, the group disclosed include the Guasu Central Mosque, Mammy Market,  Tsafe Local Government, Talata Mafara Local Government, Anka/Zurmi, Maru/Maradum Local Government and two very important personalties.

CUPP in a statement by its spokesman, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere remarked that “the development should naturally be of great concern to all lovers of peace in the country.

“It is in the light of this that opposition parties are calling on the Presidency and all security agencies saddled with the responsibility of ensuring law and order in the country to do all within their powers to avert the planned attack on Zamfara State.

The group went further to accused some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of the behind the planned attacks.

According to Ugochinyere, “With the benefit of insight into developments in the state, we make bold to say that members and leaders of the All Progressives Congress are the ones behind the planned attack on the state.

“We therefore ask that security operatives beam their searchlights on the immediate past governor of the state, Abdulaziz Yari, and question him on this planned attack as well as previous Boko Haram and bandits’ attacks on the state.

“Zamfara State should not be allowed, under any circumstance, to fall due to the activities Boko Haram and bandits as such ugly development will also have negative impact of all adjoining states and the nation as a whole.

“Security agencies should therefore take our advice seriously and rise up to the challenge to avoid plunging the nation into another round of serious security challenge,” the spokesman stated.
