The Lagos Sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has issued another reminder for motorists to prioritize safe driving, particularly on the recently reopened Third Mainland Bridge, after an accident occurred there on Thursday.
The collision, involving three vehicles, happened on the day the bridge was fully reopened to traffic after months of partial closure.
Describing the incident as an avoidable crash, the FRSC attributed it to negligence, highlighting that the caution sign warning about ongoing installation work was not properly placed.
Mr. Babatunde Farinloye, the Sector Commander, emphasized the importance of full concentration while driving, underscoring that lack of focus could lead to accidents.
While no injuries were reported, minor damage to vehicles occurred. Farinloye urged motorists to adhere to the 80km per hour speed limit on the bridge and comply with traffic regulations.
He also reminded drivers to utilize emergency toll-free numbers in case of accidents or emergencies, reaffirming FRSC’s commitment to ensuring road safety.
Expressing gratitude for the rehabilitation work on the bridge, Farinloye thanked the Federal Government and Minister of Works, Mr. Dave Umahi, noting that it would enhance travel efficiency.
