Flood Claims Three Lives In Jos

No fewer than three lives have been lost as floods ravaged some parts of Jos metropolis on Sunday and Monday.

It was reported that Gangere, Rikkos, Bauchi road and Eto-Baba communities, of Jos North Local Government were flooded as result of heavy rains that lasted for many hours.

The Zonal Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Eugene Nyenlong, who confirmed the incident said his agency got a distress call on the death of three persons following the flood.

Nyenlong disclosed that NEMA and other stakeholders were going to the affected communities to assess the situation.

The NEMA official also made an appeal to the Plateau State Government to take stringent measures to ensure that the people vacate the flood prone areas.

Also, the Executive Secretary, Plateau State Emergency Agency, Sunday Abdu, who said they were equally on their way to the affected communities, noted that the Agency would know the next line of action after an on the spot assessment.
