The Ogun State Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has commended the good initiative of it Sister’s organization, Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Ogun State Chapter to honour Security operatives to commemorate Ogun State at 45.

Razaq Ayinla, Chairman of Ogun State NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel in a statement described the move to honour the men in uniforms as step in a right direction and commendable.

Rasaq said, “Ogun State was not only created in 1976 by General Murtala Mohammed, then Head of State and the former Chief of General Staff, Supreme Military Council (SMC), Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, but also, there was an initial socio-economic development, solid and sustainable economic planning and discipline from the highly-criticised Khaki boys”

“The first and second military administrators in the State, Lt. Col then, now Major General (retd) Seidu Balogun and Brigadier Eghagha, laid the solid and virile foundation and handed over a nascent but very vibrant Ogun State to first democratically – elected Governor Victor Bisi Onabanjo, who built on the lofty feats and accomplishments of the Khaki boys”

“Today, Ogun State is the largest industrial, hub of the country, it’s always in the best five states of the federation, in terms of Internally-Generated Revenue, VAT and Excise Duty Remittances to Federation Accounts and all-time largest contributors of solid minerals to the gross domestic products, among many other feats”

“It is not a misplaced initiative to thank and honour men of Nigerian Military, Police and Para-Military, retired and serving, for being there for us at all times, not only in Ogun State, but also in all the states of the Federation and Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, he added.

He however assured FIBAN of adequate support from Ogun State Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and by extension, the Ogun State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Meanwhile, the Ogun FIBAN Award Night is scheduled for 5th February, 2021 at Quarry Imperial Hotel, Abeokuta with the theme, ” For Our Sake” with Prince Dapo Abiodun, Ogun State Governor as the distinguished guest of honor and Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly as Chairman of the day.
