Ebonyi Governor Announces N10,000 Salary Increase for Workers

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has announced a N10,000 salary increase for civil servants in the state, pending the outcome of the federal government’s negotiation on the new minimum wage.

The announcement was made during the Workers’ Day celebration at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki.

Governor Nwifuru assured workers that the state will maintain its practice of regular promotions and timely payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuities.

He also directed the immediate release of all arrears of promotions.

The governor praised workers for their commitment and dedication to the state’s growth and development, despite economic challenges.

He announced an additional N10,000 award, bringing the total to N20,000, as a token of appreciation for their hard work and sacrifices.

“We are waiting for the outcome of the negotiation of the minimum wage and to assure you, distinguished workers of our great state, that Ebonyi will not be the least,” the governor said.

He added, “I am elated that you have shown commitment and that you are part and parcel of this great state. It gives me a lot of joy and it is a challenge to me as your governor.”

The governor addressed the issues raised by the NLC and TUC, saying, “What we will do is to offer another award of ten thousand naira to join the other N10,000 to be N20,000.”

He acknowledged the workers’ contributions to the state’s growth, saying, “Your tremendous sacrifices and dedication to our great state summed up your numerous contributions to the growth and development of our state, Ebonyi.”

The governor acknowledged the economic challenges facing the country, saying, “At times, things may seem tough owing to the economic challenges we are facing in our great country, Nigeria today. But you have always exemplified uncommon patriotism for the common good of our nation Nigeria.”

He commended the workers for their courage, focus, and resilience, saying, “I salute your courage, focus, and resilience and productive will.”

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, as contained in the People’s Charter of Needs manifesto, saying, “In celebrating you today, it is important to reiterate what our administration has in stock for you as contained in our manifesto, People’s Charter of Needs.”
