The management of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto popularly known as ‘The most peaceful University, has set travel protocol for all members of the university community on the incessant virus, COVID-19 in Nigeria.
This was contained in a memorandum signed on Tuesday 24th, March 2020, by the registrar of the institution, Dr. Belko. N.A
According to the memo, members of staff are to avoid travelling to Lagos and Abuja as both cities have recorded high numbers of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria.
The memo reads in part:
“There is no reported case of COVID-19 in Sokoto so far, but cases in Abuja and Lagos are worrisome.
“Therefore, the management advises all members of staff to avoid travelling to these two cities as much as possible.”
The memo also stated that any member of staff who wish to travel should inform the Registrar.
“If any member of staff must travel, let him inform the Registrar. On return he/she should kindly isolate himself for a period of two weeks.”
It added that any member returning from study leave or any travel abroad are advised not to access any office in the university until after 14days.

Recalled, the University on Friday 20th, March 2020, obeyed the federal government order for closure of all academic activities for the period of thirty (30) days, thereby asked all students to vacate the school premises on or before 23rd of March, 2020.
