One person have been reported dead in a fatal accident involving a petrol truck in a community along Old Jebba Road, Ilorin, Kwara State on Monday.
Tropic reporter gathered that the petrol tanker driver was trying to avoid a head on collision with other cars, and fell on a young man standing by the road side when the accident happened at about 12 noon
It was also gathered that two of the occupants in the petrol tanker sustained injury as the man by the side of the road died on the spot.
Efforts to evacuate the tanker and the man trapped in it proved abortive on Monday
The development, which caused panic and apprehension among residents of the area, also resulted in heavy gridlock of vehicles along the road on Tuesday, as many Hausas’ were seen blocking the roads.
The Kwara Road Maintenance Agency (KWARTMA), the road safety corps, and the police were seen at the scene of the accident on Tuesday to forestall any break down of law and order until the dead body was evacuated.
