The leadership of Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria (CIoD), have paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Iyalode of Yorubaland and member, governing council of the Institute, who passed on Saturday October 28, 2023.
The team led by the President and Chairman of Council, Alhaji Tijjani Borodo arrived the home of the deceased located in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital into the waiting arms of the bereaved family.
The President while presenting letter of condolence from the institute to the family stated that the organization was saddened by the demise of Iyalode Lawson, who was a governing council member and the pioneering chapter Chairman of the Abeokuta branch.
He said CIoD has lost a rallying point who played a significant role in the institute.
According to him, Iyalode Lawson recorded many FIRST in her lifetime including being the first president of CIoD, Abeokuta branch.
The letter reads, “It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we pay tribute to an exceptional individual who graced our Institute with her presence and influence. Though she may no longer be physically with us, her memory and lyalode Alaba Lawson, the Pioneer Chairman of the Abeokuta Branch of our Institute and an eminent Fellow of our great Institute, was not only a dedicated contributor but also a source of inspiration for all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her passion, intelligence, and unwavering commitment to her work were unparalleled, leaving an indelible mark on our Institution”.
Throughout her time with us, lyalode Lawson exemplified the true spirit of collaboration, always ready to lend a helping hand and share her wealth of knowledge and experience with others”.
“She possessed a rare combination of candour, expertise and humility, making her approachable and respected by all”.
“Beyond her professional accomplishments, she was a warm and compassionate individual who touched the lives of many. Her kindness, empathy, and genuine concern for others created a nurturing environment within our Institute, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie”.
“Though lyalode Lawson’s physical presence may be gone, her impactful contributions will continue to shape our institute for years to come. We are forever grateful for the time we shared with her and her profound influence on the Abeokuta Branch of our great Institute. the impact they made will forever be etched in our hearts”.

Responding on behalf of the family, Mr Akinola Lawson, the first born of the deceased thanked the President of the institute, Alhaji Tijjani Borodo and his entourage for the visit and for commiserating with them at the time of the demise of their mother.
He however assured the Institute of Directors leadership that, the institute will be carried along about the preparation of their mother’s burial.
On the entourage include the Institute Director General, Mr. Bamidele Abayomi Alimi, the Osi of Egbaland, High Chief Bode Mustapha, Sunday Adenipekun, Director of Academy, CIoD, Kene Nwanegbo, Associate member of the Institute, Olori Omoshalewa Moremi Aboderin- Olubusi.
