...demands retraction, apology
Former Central Bank Deputy Governor, Tunde Lemo, has asked Babagbagede Imo TV, an online TV, to retract and apologise for its story accusing him of stealing $270+ Million from the Federal Government.
Lemo, through his lawyer, Adebayo Ayodele & Co, also advised the media organization to acceed to the request within 24 hours or face legal repercussions.
The letter, titled: Re-Tunde Lemo Steals $270+ Million, Tunde Lemo, A Disgrace To Yoruba Race, a copy received by Tropic Reporters reads:
Dear Sir,
RE: TUNDE LEMO STEALS $270+ MILLION, TUNDE LEMO, A DISGRACE TO YORUBA RACE.
DEMAND FOR RETRACTION
We are the Solicitors retained by REVD. TUNDE LEMO (hereinafter called “our client” regarding the above captioned matter.
We have been consulted and our services retained to take appropriate actions against the highly defamatory statements made on Babagbagede Imo TV (an Online TV) on the effect that REVD. TUNDE LEMO Stole $270+ Million and Tunde Lemo disgraces Yourba race.
It is our firm instruction to state that REVD. TUNDE LEMO did not steal any money from the Federal Government or refunded the sum of $270+ Million to the Federal Government.
The comments referred to are highly libelous and represents a campaign of calumny.
The highly defamatory comments have gone viral and capable of bringing our client’s reputation into odium and debauchery.
It is our firm instruction to demand and we hereby demand that the defamatory comments be retracted within the next 24 hours through the same medium used to propagate the defamatory comments.
Failure of which, we shall not hesitate to seek appropriate remedy within the ambit of the law on behalf of our client.
