Birthday: Speaker Oluomo Inaugurates projects, lays church foundation in father’s honour

In commemoration of his 60th birthday, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo has commissioned three out of the seven motorized boreholes situated in various communities and the foundation laying for the construction of an African Church building at Ajowa within his Ifo I State Constituency.

Oluomo received prayers from a delegation of clerics led by the Most Reverend Solomon Ojumu, Archbishop of the African Church, Ogun Province 1 and the Khalifat Tijanniyat of Ifo Local Government Council, Fadilatul Sheik Hammad Tiamiyu Adejolu as well as his political associates and community leaders amongst others.

The Speaker explained that the commissioning of the water projects situated at Cocoa seed area, Araromi Oke-Oja, Abekaju-Orelope Estate and Pakoto communities were in furtherance of his firm belief in service to humanity.

He added that the ground breaking / foundation laying of the church building was in honour of his late father, the first Olu of Ifo, Oba Gabriel Oluomo Aloba, Ajagungbade 1, being, an African Church adherent with enviable record of service to the orthodox Church and society at large.

Describing his birthday as a period of sober reflection and worthy time of thanksgiving to Almighty God for his unfailing kindness in the last six decades, Oluomo pointed out that he remained committed to sustaining quality representation, giving back to humanity and ensuring good governance, especially to the grassroot.

Oluomo therefore admonished the beneficiaries of the projects to take charge and ensure continued maintenance to enable the projects serve their purpose.

He listed other ongoing projects being carried out by him to include an e-library, mini stadium with facilities for boxing, football, Lawn tennis, volley ball, badminton, as well as four other boreholes which were at advanced stage of completion, all in fulfilment of his desire to always give back to the people having gotten a sense of joy and grace to have attained this milestone.

Earlier in his remarks, Archbishop of the African Church, Ogun Province 1, Most Reverend Solomon Ojumu, Sheikh Tiamiyu led other clerics to organize a prayer session for the Speaker at his residence, commending him for further embracing the legacy of quality service to the people, in line with the belief of his late patriarch who was famous for community service during his life time.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Baale of Pakoto, Chief Adegboyega David, commended the self-funded community water project initiatives, noting that it had brought a succor to the communities as no major source of potable water supply was within their reach.

He assured the donor that the communities would ensure proper maintenance of the facility, with a call on both Federal and State Government to bring more developmental projects to the Local Government with a view to improving the living standard of the people.
