Pension Fund Administrators have been urged to speed up the timely payment of retirement benefits of retired staff of NYSC.

The Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim stated this in Keffi Nasarawa State today while declaring open a Pre- Retirement Workshop with the theme, “Working towards a productive and comfortable retirement”, organized for retiring NYSC staff.

Ibrahim said the difficulties some retirees encountered in accessing their retirement benefits including next of kin of deceased staff are worrisome.

He advised the participants to utilise the opportunity of the workshop to douse every negative premonition about retirement life but imbibe the necessary information, including it’s business and investment ideas for seamless transition into post-service life.

“It is worrisome to note that some officers who retired over two years ago are yet to be paid their benefits till date. This is a dangerous trend that must not be allowed to persist”, the DG said.

While reaffirming his commitment to staff welfare, Ibrahim appealed to staff to rededicate themselves to duties in order to take the Scheme to enviable heights.

Resource persons with vast experiences in different topics such as Academics, private sector, Pension Fund Administrators, Insurance Companies, National Pension Commission among others are billed to engage the retirees during the workshop.

The Director, Human Resource Management, Alhaji Abdulrazak
Salawu in his address stated that the workshop was designed to build positive mental attitude towards retirement.

“The responsibility of planning our future falls on each of us and it has been made available to us through this programme to be properly guided on the expectations, challenges, prospects and problems associated with post service life”. Salawu added.
