A fatal motor accident involving two trucks, tricycle, car and a motorcycle which occurred in the dusk hours of Tuesday claimed at least, two lives; while injuring 18 others.
The Traffic Road Compliance Agency Commandant in Ota, Commodore Ajibade told our correspondent that the accident occurred at about 6.31 p.m on Tuesday.
He said that 52 people were involved in the multiple accident which involved two ash coloured Iveco trucks with registration number GZA 379XA, a tricycle, a motorcycle and nine cars. He added that the accident was caused by a brake failure.
We gathered that the accident claimed two lives, male and a female, while 18 people; comprising of 9 females and 9 males sustained various degrees of injuries. The identities of the victims were yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
Ajibade said that the TRACE personnel and other sister agencies such as the Federal Road Safety Corps and Police, were on ground to remove the obstructions so as to ease the flow of traffic in the area.
It was however, gathered that the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Ogun State Hospital, Ifo, while the 18 injured people are currently receiving treatments at the Ogun State Hospital, Onipanu, Ota and Ojugbele Hospital, Baby’O, Ota.
He advised motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits and ensure that they properly maintain their vehicles to avoid unnecessary deaths.
