The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) yesterday ordered suspension of the weekly community development service (CDS) activities until further notice following the shut down of orientation camps nationwide.

A statement issued by NYSC Director of Human Resource Management Abdulrazak Salawu for the Director General of the scheme, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, indicated that following Covid-19 pandemic, the management suspended CDS activities.

While stressing that the well being of corps members was important, he said, “This course of action is directed by circumstances beyond our control. The sudden change in countries warranting social distancing and isolation due to Covid-19 present us no other option, as large number of persons come in close contact during these activities.”He further ordered all local government inspectors to act immediately by complying with the directive.
