GOVERNOR BADARU RELEASES N39 MILLION NAIRA TO UPGRADE NYSC CAMP IN JIGAWA

The sum of thirty-nine million Naira has been released for the comprehensive upgrading of facilities at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Fanisau Jigawa State. While Seventeen million naira of the amount would be used for the renovation of Corps members’ hostels and camp officials’ chalets, twenty-two Million Naira would be channeled to the construction of additional hostels for corps members.

This cheering news was disclosed by the Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Muhammed Badaru Abubakar while declaring open the 2020 Batch A Stream 1 Orientation course for corps members deployed to Jigawa State at the parade ground of the General Yakubu Gowon NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Fanisau, Jigawa State.

The Governor who was represented by Alhaji Hussaini Ali Kila, Head of Service, Jigawa State, said that the motive behind maintaining the premier position of the Orientation Camp in the country is a way of showcasing the warm reception, accommodation and friendliness of the good people of Jigawa State.

He enumerated other facilities already in place and functional in the camp as six motorized boreholes with three gigantic overhead tanks and one large underground tank fully reticulated to supply water to the entire camp.

Governor Badaru equally said that the camp is fenced round and the compound adorned with many ornamental trees, solidly tarred roads as well as planned drainages.

Furthermore, the governor said that in order to ensure that the corps members relax, concentrate and discharge their assigned duties, a well thought out security architecture has been put in place to secure all the people resident in the state.

The chief executive of the state encouraged the operators of NYSC in the state to feel free to visit the government House with any request geared towards smooth operation of the scheme in the state.

The Chairman, NYSC State Governing Board who is also the Hon. Commissioner, Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Mohammad Alhassan said that the responsibility of the board is to liaise between the NYSC and the state government with a view to attending to issues concerning the NYSC swiftly.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Alhaji Lawan Ammad Aliyu, the chairman said that there are other welfare provisions by the state government to corps members like monthly state allowance, conveyance of corps members from the orientation camp to their places primary assignment free of charge and free accommodation.

On his part, the state coordinator, NYSC Jigawa State, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad said that from the commencement of registration to the cut off period, the figure of those registered was 1,834 comprising 934 male and 900 female.

He said that the invitation of the prospective corps members to camp was a call for higher responsibilities.
He therefore urged them to be highly disciplined as the scheme would never compromise standards.

The highlights of the event were the administration of the oath of allegiance to the graduates by the representative of the Chief Judge of Jigawa High Court of Justice Barrister Batula Dauda Chief Magistrate 1 Dutse and the entertainment of the guests by tug of war displayed by the new corps members.
