On Wednesday, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) began the airlift of election materials for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to Benin, Edo State, in preparation for the governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024.

Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, stated, “This move is part of a broader effort to ensure timely and secure delivery of sensitive materials necessary for the smooth conduct of the elections.”

He highlighted that the airlift operation reflects the collaboration between NAF and INEC to facilitate logistics and ensure a peaceful election process.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, had previously assured INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, of NAF’s commitment to airlifting electoral materials swiftly.

“This is in fulfilment of NAF’s constitutional responsibility of providing Military Aid to Civil Authority,” Abubakar affirmed.
