Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has called on the Judiciary to uphold its integrity and restore public confidence in the justice system.

Speaking at the Special Mosque Service to mark the commencement of the 2024/2025 Legal Year, Abiodun, represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, emphasized the Judiciary’s crucial role as the “last hope of the common man.”

He urged the judiciary to seize the opportunity of the new legal year to enhance their service to both the Bench and humanity.

Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering a just, free, and egalitarian society.

He expressed confidence in the Judiciary’s ability to uphold the rule of law and protect citizens’ rights. “I’m confident that our Law Officers will continue to perform their duties with the highest level of professionalism and dedication, in alignment with our administration’s vision of a fair, just, and equitable society, free from anarchy and tyranny,” he stated.

The Governor underscored the significance of justice in democracy, noting that it serves as the foundation of democratic principles.

He called on members of the bar and bench, as well as all judiciary staff, to reaffirm their commitment to justice and strive for continued improvement in the state’s judicial processes.

In a related address, Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, delivered a lecture titled “After Hardship Comes Ease From The Lens of the Holy Quran.” Agboke highlighted that while hardship is an inherent part of life, joy follows if one maintains faith, relies on Allah, and adheres to His commandments.

He advised Muslim lawyers to stay faithful to Allah, stating, “No one in life is free from affliction, but ensure that all acts of spirituality must be in accordance with Allah’s directive.”

Agboke also encouraged Muslim faithful to avoid actions that could divert them from their spiritual path.
