Man Kills Brother During Fight in Lagos, Police Investigate

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man, Ayodeji Busari, for allegedly killing his younger brother during a fight in the new Iba area of Lagos State. The incident occurred on Friday, August 23, 2024, at around 11 pm.

According to the Police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hudenyin, a resident reported the incident at the Iba Police Division on August 24, 2024.

Hudenyin explained that “on August 23, 2024, at about 11 pm, one Ayodeji Busari of Iba Lagos, pushed his 47-year-old younger brother during a fight, causing him to hit his head on the pavement. His younger brother came from Port-Harcourt, Rivers State to visit his friend.”

Hudenyin further stated that “the victim became unconscious and was rushed to Igando General Hospital for treatment but was later confirmed dead by the Medical Doctor on duty. The scene of the crime was visited, photographs of the corpse were taken, and the corpse was removed and deposited at Mainland General Hospital Mortuary, Yaba, for autopsy.”

The Police spokesman added that “the case file of the suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID Yaba, for an in-depth investigation.”

The cause of the fight remains unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
