Kano, Nigeria – Violence and looting erupted in Kano State today as hoodlums, disguising themselves as protesters, attacked several establishments, leaving a trail of destruction and chaos in their wake.
The hoodlums, who infiltrated the ongoing nationwide protests against economic hardship, targeted supermarkets, government buildings, and other public properties, causing significant damage and theft.
In one incident, multiple motor vehicles at the NCC office, Audu Bako Secretariat, were set ablaze, while supermarkets at Nassarawa Quarters were also attacked.
The Kano State Police Command has arrested 157 suspects in connection with the violence and recovered a large quantity of looted properties, including an exhibit AK-47 rifle.
In response to the disturbances, the Kano State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew to restore order and ensure the safety of residents.
The police have assured that the situation is being closely monitored and that further updates will be provided as necessary.
The violence and looting have raised concerns about the safety and security of residents in Kano State, and the government has urged citizens to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies to restore peace and order.
