Nigerian artiste Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable, has advised his fans to focus on their personal growth and success instead of participating in the upcoming protests against economic hardship in Nigeria.

In a video posted on his social media platforms, Portable expressed his disinterest in joining the protests, citing his contentment with his current success.

He encouraged his fans to do the same, prioritizing their individual achievements over public demonstrations.

The protests, scheduled for August 1-10, aim to address the rising cost of living and other economic challenges facing the nation.

However, Portable’s message to his fans is to concentrate on their own progress rather than engaging in the demonstrations.

He said “It will not end well for anyone who suggests that I should go and sing in a protest. Why don’t you take the microphone and sing at the protest yourself?”

“Fight for yourself, and not for Nigeria. Nigeria is okay. It is you that is not yet okay,” Portable stated.

He emphasized that the key to success lies in personal effort and loyalty to those who can offer help.

“The money is where it is; you are the one who is not working, and you don’t stay loyal to your helper. People that will help you are also available; you are the one who is not networking. Fight for yourself, so that your career will not turn to a barrier,” he added.

Portable’s comments come at a time when many Nigerians are struggling with economic hardships, exacerbated by inflation and unemployment.
