Eight schoolchildren have been rescued following a severe motor accident in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State.
According to eyewitnesses, the children, who are students at Kingdom Heritage Nursery and Primary School in Lokoja, were returning from school when the incident occurred on Thursday at the Lokongoma market.
Reports indicate that a heavy-duty truck carrying a container collapsed onto two smaller vehicles, trapping the children inside.
With the joint efforts of the Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and other relevant agencies, the children were successfully freed.
Kogi State Security Adviser Commodore Jerry Omodara (Rtd.) confirmed the rescue operation to our correspondent. As of 5:17 PM, efforts are ongoing to remove the truck from the road to restore traffic flow.
