The Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun State Area 1 Command, has cautioned the public against consuming smuggled frozen poultry products, citing serious health risks associated with their consumption.

Comptroller James Ojo emphasized in an interview that these products, smuggled from the Republic of Benin, are often preserved with harmful chemicals and lack proper regulatory oversight. Such practices not only fail to meet nutritional standards but also pose significant health hazards, including allergies, poisoning, cancer, and organ damage.

Ojo urged smugglers to cease these activities, reaffirming Customs’ commitment to preventing the entry of banned goods into Nigeria.
