Abeokuta – The Ogun State House of Assembly yesterday marked its first year anniversary with a special plenary session, pledging to continue delivering people-oriented legislation and projects that will have a direct positive impact on the lives of the citizens.

Speaker Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, while addressing the session, expressed gratitude to God and Governor Dapo Abiodun for his support, noting that the Assembly has passed seven bills into laws and over 24 motions into resolutions.

Elemide highlighted some of the achievements of the Assembly, including the passage of the yearly appropriation bill, judiciary fund management, and legislative funds management, as well as amendments to the Magistrates’ Court and Local Government laws.

The Speaker commended Governor Abiodun for his efforts in turning around the fortunes of the State for better and urged his colleagues to continue working collectively for the success of the current administration.

Other lawmakers, in their remarks, commended the Governor for non-interference in their legislative oversight functions, especially in appraising budget performance, public accounts, and anti-corruption.

They also acknowledged the Governor’s efforts in creating an enabling environment for them to perform their duties, which has led to the ongoing renovation of the State House of Assembly Complex.

Former Assembly Speakers, including Basorun Muyiwa Oladipo, Titi Sodunke-Gomez, Tunji Egbetokun, and Suraju Adekunbi, commended the Governor for providing the necessary enablement for the lawmakers to perform their duties. They also praised the Speaker and members for their collective resolve to give quality representation to the people.

The session was attended by dignitaries, including former Speakers of the State House of Assembly, traditional rulers, and top government officials.
