The High Court in Kano has issued an order preventing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from apprehending Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and seven others.

Justice Yusuf Ubale Muhammad granted the order, which also bars the EFCC from inviting, intimidating, detaining, or harassing the respondents.

This decision came after the court reviewed a motion exparte dated June 5, 2024, filed by the applicants, including NNPP, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, Dipo Olayanku, Ahmed Balewa, Chief Clement Anele, Lady Folshade Aliu, Eng. Buba Galadima, and Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The respondent in the case is the EFCC. The court’s interim injunction will remain in force until the hearing and determination of the motion on notice scheduled for June 24th, 2024.
