A devastating incident occurred last Monday in the Federal Capital Territory, as a Nigeria Customs Service officer, Abdulwahab Magaji, was found dead in his apartment on Binta Street, Farm Estate area, Abuja.
Reports indicate that the officer took his own life with a pump-action rifle, leaving his family and colleagues in shock.
According to a senior law enforcement officer, the family raised the alarm after discovering Magaji’s lifeless body, prompting a swift response from the police.
The victim was rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical professionals.
The source said, “A family of the deceased had raised the alarm that CSC Abdulahi Abdulwahab Magaji, a customs officer serving in Abuja, shot himself in his house at Farm Centre with a pump-action rifle.
“Police officers dashed to the scene of the incident and took the victim to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where he was certified dead by the doctor on duty.”
The circumstances surrounding Magaji’s tragic death are still unclear, and efforts to reach the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, and the Customs National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, for comments were unsuccessful as at press time.
