The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps, commonly known as So-Safe Corps, have apprehended an armed robbery syndicate that has been terrorizing Iroko/Arije, Ota in Ogun State.
According to a press statement from the Office of the State Commander of the Corps, Commander (Dr) Soji Ganzallo, issued through the Office of the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, an emergency call was received on April 16, 2024, from the Iroko/Arije Divisional Headquarters of the Corps. The community reported that armed robbers were causing unrest, robbing law-abiding citizens at gunpoint of their phones and other valuables.
Responding to the citizens’ report, the Ado Odo Ota Zonal Commander of the Corps, ACC Tajudeen Odunmbaku, instructed officers to apprehend the suspects. The operation team successfully captured three out of the four suspected armed robbers.
Commander Ganzallo identified the apprehended individuals as Abayomi Micheal David, also known as Scofield, aged 37, residing at 33, Unity Road, Abule Ijoko; Sam Oluwatobi, aged 24, resident of 24, Blessed Estate, Alayapupo Street, off Oyero road, Ijoko; and Oluwatosin Atilola, also known as Tosine, aged 37, residing at 168, Nascon Road, Ijoko in Ado Odo Ota Local Government Area.
Ganzallo mentioned that the fourth suspect, Obani Desmond, also known as Kokolet, is still at large and is known to be experienced in such criminal activities. The apprehended suspects identified him as their ringleader, and efforts are underway to bring him to justice.
Additionally, the items recovered from the suspects include two empty and one live red star cartridges, one locally-made stainless cut-to-size pistol, and one motorbike.
Commander Ganzallo however stated that the apprehended suspects and the recovered items have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Sango Divisional Police Headquarters, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
