IGP Greenlights Promotion of 10,581 Inspectors, Rank & File Personnel

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has given the green light for the promotion of ten thousand, five hundred and eighty-one (10,581) deserving junior officers from the Inspectorate Cadre and the Rank and File.

Following this directive, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Department of Finance and Administration (DIG DFA) has been assigned the responsibility of coordinating with the Commissioner of Police (Welfare) to kickstart the promotion process promptly.

In a statement released in Abuja and signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, it was disclosed that the promotions include 9,831 Police Constables expected to be promoted to the rank of Corporal, 81 Corporals to be elevated to the rank of Sergeant, and 669 officers set to progress from the rank of Sergeants to Inspectors.

Highlighting the commitment of the Force leadership to meritocracy and career advancement, the Inspector General of Police stressed the importance of timely promotions in boosting officers’ morale and enhancing overall effectiveness.

He emphasized that promotions play a crucial role in sustaining the ongoing manpower development initiatives of the Nigeria Police Force, reaffirming that promotions will be based solely on merit.

The Nigeria Police Force extended its warm congratulations to all officers scheduled for promotion, urging them to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service to the nation.
