There was commotion at the Ondo state house of assembly on Thursday after a snake crept into the parliament.

The incident happened when the lawmakers were set for proceedings of the day.

The lawmakers fled in different directions as they shouted on top of their voices.

One of the workers at the assembly complex blamed the situation on the poor state of the facility.

“The snake fell from the chamber’s roof when sitting was to commence and this made all the lawmakers to run for their lives,” he said.

“Unfortunately for us, the snake escaped. If you see how some of the lawmakers were shaking as if they wanted to die. The last time something was done to this complex was during government of Segun Agagu.

“As I am talking to you, some of the lawmakers don’t have personal offices.”

Bamidele Oloyelogun, the speaker, has declared indefinite recess, saying the security of the legislators could not be guaranteed.
